N.E.R.D. Release 4th Studio Album - Nothing
Consisting of three main players Pharrell Williams, Chad
Hugo and Shay Haley, N.E.R.D. (No-one Ever Really Dies), is a well-known rock, funk and hip-hop band. They’re a group
that fans and music lovers have come to love over the past several years with their sound, swag and innovative approach to
music. But
before there was N.E.R.D., Williams and Hugo were known, and still are, as the Grammy-award winning record production duo,
the Neptunes. Since the 90s, the Neptunes collaborated with many artists including Ol’ Dirty Bastard, No Doubt, Janet
Jackson, Britney Spears, N*SYNC, TLC, Mary J. Blige, Kelis and Mariah Carey, just to name a few. However, it was in 2001 when
the guys formed N.E.R.D. with childhood friend Haley. N.E.R.D
has released three albums, In Search Of…(2001), Fly or Die (2004) and Seeing Sounds (2008).
Now, the guys are set to release their fourth studio album, Nothing, which Williams says was inspired by the ladies.
"Women are essential to life on this planet," Williams said. "They just
hold a very sacred place, they always have for me. My taste and appetite for women has been clearly evident in my music and
my videos. We just felt like that was the sweetest spot for us to concentrate on. Having that in mind, just because the concept
of the album is us having a conversation with women at a roundtable, it doesn't mean that that's what the audience
is about." The first single on the album, “Hot ‘N Fun,” is a laid-back,
feel-good track with hot beats and a guest spot by Nelly Furtado. The song’s infectious groove makes you want to take
the rest of the day off from work, hit the beach or just chill with friends. The video has a psychedelic-inspired theme with
Williams and the guys out in a desert, in a 60s-type setting with, of course, their girls. The
first single and video from Nothing are both entertaining and should be heating up airwaves soon. And even though
the ladies were on the forefront when creating this album, Williams wants everyone to know that this album is for everyone.
“This album is meant and intended to inspire humans,” Williams said. “Man,
woman, whatever you are. If you can find something positive in here that motivates you, then this album is for you."
